IV (Intravenous) Therapy is the infusion of fluids, vitamins, nutrients, minerals and amino acids directly into the bloodstream. 100% of the administered dose is immediately absorbed by the body. Read more about IV Therapy here. (Insert link/page to IV Therapy info)
You should drink plenty of water, the more water you drink the plumper your veins become, and when you are well-hydrated it is easier to locate your veins. We highly recommend eating a meal within 3 hours of receiving your IV therapy treatment. We also encourage you to bring a bottle of water, a book, headphones, or your phone with you, or just sit, relax, take a quick nap, and enjoy your treatment!
The length of treatment varies from one person to another. IV drips can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour to administer depending on the number of fluids.
Most patients can receive IV infusions as often as once a week but your healthcare provider may also recommend bi-weekly or monthly treatments depending on certain factors like health status, condition(s) being addressed, and response to the therapy. The number and frequency of infusions will vary based on your symptoms or desired effects. A more specific plan may be developed with our medical director.
Pain is subjective, some people barely feel the IV placement, some may not feel it, and for others, it varies in their fear of needles or level of tolerance. Our registered nurses are highly experienced and thoroughly trained to ensure your treatment is as comfortable and pain-free as possible.
Definitely! IV infusion is considered a safe method to receive vitamins and minerals in the bloodstream. However, it is important to make sure that you are receiving infusions from a licensed and reputable healthcare professional.
IV infusion is a safe and effective treatment for most people. Anyone with kidney or liver disease and congestive heart failure should consult with their healthcare provider to get approval and/or develop a specific IV therapy.
IV infusion poses a low risk for side effects and reactions are uncommon. Some people may experience mild symptoms, like inflammation, redness, irritation, bruising, or discomfort of the puncture site and/or around the injected area. More serious complications might include allergic reactions, however, these are rare despite the possibility of occurrence. We ask patients to complete the medical questionnaire and always share any and all pertinent information regarding previous allergic reactions to medications, supplements, or therapies.
